Falcons trade for Foxworth, make roster moves

 

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – The Atlanta Falcons today completed a trade with the Denver Broncos, acquiring cornerback Domonique Foxworth for a 2009 seventh round draft pick, contingent on Foxworth’s playing time this season. Atlanta also claimed safety Jamaal Fudge off waivers from Jacksonville and released cornerback Blue Adams and fullback Corey McIntyre.

Foxworth, 5-11, 180 pounds, was a third round selection by the Broncos in the 2005 NFL Draft and enters his fourth year in the league. In 48 career games, he has totaled 166 tackles (138 solo), three interceptions, 34 passes defensed, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. Foxworth was actively involved in the community in Denver and was recognized as the Broncos’ Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award winner in 2007.

Fudge, 5-9, 194 pounds, enters his third year in the NFL having spent the last two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He has competed in 20 career games while totaling 15 tackles (12 solo), one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Fudge was coached by Mike Smith when he served as Jacksonville’s defensive coordinator from 2003-07.

Adams was signed by the Falcons as a free agent on July 25, 2007 and saw action in all four preseason contests.

McIntyre was claimed by Atlanta off of waivers on November 24, 2006. He saw action in 14 games primarily on special teams last season.
